MOMMY’S BLACK EYED PEAS

My mommy’s black eyed peas recipe. This plus some white rice and cornbread muffins used to sustain us for daaaayyyyysssssssss…

Yield: 9-12 servings

PREP IT!             

  • 1 pound Black eyed peas, dried

  • 1 piece Smoked turkey (wing, neck, or leg) or Ham hock

  • 1 tablespoon Taste Tutor Seasoning 101

  • 1 each (1½ cups) Yellow Onion, medium, diced small

  • 1 tablespoon Chicken bouillon powder

  • 1 tablespoon Peanut oil (“My mommy said “it is optional if you wanna add a little nuttiness if you’re feeling kinda nutty”)

  • 48 ounces Chicken broth

MAKE IT!

  1. Add all ingredients to slow cooker and cook on low for 8 hours.

  2. Enjoy!

Tip: This recipe freezes well so try making it ahead of time.

Reheat leftovers: in the oven or in the microwave.
